Your first design job
I’ve been receiving a lot of questions about landing a job without ‘experience’ - Author: @mizko - The reality is, unless you’re a bit of a unicorn designer, you’re not going to land the perfect job as a junior.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This post assumes that you’re already giving your career your best shot. Launching side projects and freelancing whenever you can. Building experience wherever possible. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When you’re applying for your first job, no one wants to hire someone with zero experience. That’s the reality we live in. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ So lower your expectations. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The job might not be exactly what you’re looking for, but it’s still something.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Something is better than nothing.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ No one is telling you to stay there forever.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Stick around for 6, 12 or 24 months. Learn everything you can.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Once you plateau, move on. But this time you’ll already have experience under your belt, making your application process 2x easier.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Just remember, every new job you land becomes easier and easier. ⁣⁣ -⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Enjoyed this post?
