Stop asking for raise
Stop asking for raises. Wait, what? | by @tony.ux
I recently ran a survey on my stories asking if you felt confident in asking for a raise.
70% of you said, “No.”
Well for you 70% I have good news for you… You don’t have to ask. In fact, I would say, you shouldn’t.
Instead, do this: Set a meeting with your supervisor and say, “I’ve been with this company for (at least a year) now, and I’d love for us to create a growth game plan where I can add more value, take on more responsibility and expand my influence.”
GROWTH GAME PLAN > Raise
If you are with a company with strong leaders and culture, they will appreciate your initiative and mindset.
Asking for a raise puts them on defense. Asking to create a growth game plan together shows intentionality and commitment.
Let’s do this!
