How to create a practical User Persona
โšกHow to create a practical User Persona @hazicsaba I'm sure you've heard of user personas before. It's a vital tool in the UX designers Swiss Army knife. But... a lot of user personas are useless. They feature information that is hardly usable when designing a product. You know the user's favorite TV show is Money Heist. Cool. - Is it relevant to the project? - Can you use that? - Will this information influence your design decisions? ๐Ÿ‘‰ If not, DON'T INCLUDE IT! Creating a user persona and filling it up with made-up and irrelevant data will create a false "safety" feeling. "Yeah, we have a user persona, we care about our users." Instead, create a user persona, that's full of information you CAN use. I have two favorites. The "Context of use" and the "Fears". The context of use refers to when, where and how the product is going to be used. This influences the design decisions I make 100%. For instance, will the app be used on mobile? On the go or at home? While commuting in a noise environment or at home in the kitchen when my hands are dirty (maybe your's aren't, but mine are, lol). The fears and worries of the users are vital too. You need to ask yourself; what can hold the user back from buying the product? What might stand in their way of using the new feature? Lastly, you need validation for this kind of data ๐Ÿ‘‰ Do 10 user interviews ๐Ÿ‘‰ Send out a UX survey ๐Ÿ‘‰ Do a quick poll ๐Ÿ‘‰ Dig into data ๐Ÿ‘‰ Find existing research material (there's a lot...)
