8 types of dropdown for your UI
8 types of dropdown for your UI - By: @zanderwhitehurst - 🤔 It’s a common misconception that there is only one type of dropdown. In all honesty you can get really creative with dropdowns and this post touches upon a few types of dropdown to throw into your UI. - 🤫 The first is typically used in navigation. The link dropdown has a fixed toggle value and basic lost format. - 💃🕺 Dropdowns get more complicated and powerful as they become select dropdowns. Single, multi, and tag dropdowns are the 3 to trial and each has a unique benefit to your product. Notice the different states and be mindful of the changing toggle value. - 🗓 The dreaded date dropdown has been designed too many times. Keep it basic, always show the selected date value in the toggle dropdown and make it easy for users to select and navigate between months. I’m going to do a whole series on calendars so keep your eyes peeled. - 🙋‍♂️ A functional dropdown that I designed recently is the counter. This becomes powerful for multiple items, checkouts and collaborators. - 😊 Thanks so much for your support on this series. Quiz coming in a couple days time because tomorrow I am sharing something I’ve worked really hard on and can’t wait for you to enjoy!! 🎨
